Richard Wright comes from a long tradition of military service in which his father, uncles, and grandfathers all served in various branches and theaters. Wright joined the Marine Corps Reserves in June, 2001 and served as a Marine through June 2007. He was based in North Carolina, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. In this interview Richard ruminates on a number of ethical questions about combat, including terrorism, the media, political protest, and the value of civilian lives.
