Jorge Romero, Army (2007)

Jorge Romero was born in Guatemala and raised in Revere, Massachusetts. He joined the Army in 2002 as an infantryman, was trained at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, and was part of the 5th Infantry Regiment deployment to Afghanistan in 2004 and 2005. His interview describes the lack of choices he had after high school and how the military opened up new opportunities. Other topics include the difficult task of Afghanistan reconstruction, stereotypes of veterans, and adjustment to civilian life.
